Rebry Gaston
Gaston Rebry (1933-2007)
Born in Wevelgem, Belgium, he graduated from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Menin, Belgium (1952-53) before coming to Canada. He then studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Mtl. (1954-55) before settling in Saint Boniface, Quebec. A painter of great technical skill he has done some commercial illustration. Rebry’s inspiration came from the Quebec landscape which includes old houses, sugar bush cabins, woods and the country around the Maurice region. He also painted portraits and still lifes. His work occasionally verges on the abstract. He worked as well partly from photographs. He has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows and received many awards.
